HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act created EMS regions and minimum standards for the statewide delivery of EMS services; and

WHEREAS, There is a lack of funding for emergency medical services within this State; and

WHEREAS, EMS operations can mean the difference between life and death; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that there is created the House Task Force on Emergency Medical Services Funding consisting of 24 members, 12 to be appointed by the Speaker (one being named as co-chair by Speaker) and 12 to be appointed by the Minority Leader (one being named as co-chair by Minority Leader); and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force is created to formulate practical, timely, and strategic guidance on how to improve equipment, funding, training, manpower, cost savings, and communications with regard to emergency medical services within this State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall meet with various emergency medical service stakeholders and make recommendations concerning ways in which emergency medical service functions in this State can be assisted and improved; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Department of Public Health shall provide administrative support to the Task Force; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall submit its recommendations in a report, by January 1, 2012, to the General Assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Director of Public Health.
