SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

70 ILCS 705/7

from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 27

Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that a fire protection district may post electronically in a manner that is accessible to the general public ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriation instead of publishing the ordinances in a newspaper. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by changing Section 7 as follows:

(70 ILCS 705/7) (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 27)

Sec. 7. Posting and publication of ordinances. All ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriations shall, within one month after they are passed, be (i) posted electronically in a manner that is accessible to the general public or (ii) published at least once in a newspaper published in said district, or if no such newspaper of general circulation is published therein, then either by one publication in any newspaper of general circulation within said territory or by posting copies of the same in ten public places in the district. No ; and no such ordinance shall take effect until ten days after it is so published or posted, and all other ordinances and resolutions shall take effect from and after their passage unless otherwise provided therein.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
