SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 705/7  from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 27

    Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that a fire protection district may post electronically in a manner that is accessible to the general public ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriation instead of publishing the ordinances in a newspaper. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by
5changing Section 7 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 705/7)  (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 27)
7    Sec. 7. Posting and publication of ordinances. All
8ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriations
9shall, within one month after they are passed, be (i) posted
10electronically in a manner that is accessible to the general
11public or (ii) published at least once in a newspaper published
12in said district, or if no such newspaper of general
13circulation is published therein, then either by one
14publication in any newspaper of general circulation within said
15territory or by posting copies of the same in ten public places
16in the district. No ; and no such ordinance shall take effect
17until ten days after it is so published or posted, and all
18other ordinances and resolutions shall take effect from and
19after their passage unless otherwise provided therein.

21    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22becoming law.
