SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to recognize Working Bikes on 25 years of community service in and around Chicago's Little Village since its inception in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Working Bikes gives donated bicycles new life by redistributing them as tools of empowerment in local and global communities, including Africa, Latin America, and Chicago, where bicycles are the most reliable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly transportation available; and

WHEREAS, The amazing commitment of the volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters of Working Bikes has enabled new life for 100,000 bicycles across the globe and tens of thousands in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Working Bikes has empowered people to utilize and access resources and opportunities that otherwise could have been out of reach, reducing waste, lessening pollution, and improving health in the process; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Working Bikes on 25 years of working to strengthen local and global communities by giving donated bicycles new life and redistributing them as tools for self-determination; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Working Bikes as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
