SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ernest Edwin "Ernie" Michaels of Elk Grove Village, who passed away on December 21, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was born to Edwin and Agnes (Czaja) Michaels in Chicago on January 18, 1930; and

WHEREAS, Ernie worked as a commissioned driver for PepsiCo for 36 years; and

WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels loved entertaining people with his banjo, partaking in many parades, senior center gigs, and other events, and he was the leader of the Windy City Jammers, playing with the band every Monday night at many restaurants throughout the years; and

WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was a former member of the Elk Grove Village Lions, helping with the organization's Candy Day and participating in its 4th of July celebrations with banjo sing-alongs; and

WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels enjoyed working out on a stationary bike at the Elk Grove Pavilion; and

WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was known for always having a kind word for everyone; he will be remembered for being a loving, encouraging husband, a supportive best friend to his son, and a caring grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was preceded in death by his first wife, Gene (Omernik) Michaels; his daughter, Linda (John) Colonna; his parents; and his siblings, Ralph (Louise) Michaels, Earl Michaels, and Audrey (John) Ward; and

WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels is survived by his second wife, Margaret (Lorincz) Michaels; his son, Dale (Susan) Michaels; his grandchildren, Daxton Michaels and Delaney Michaels; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ernest Edwin "Ernie" Michaels and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ernie Michaels as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
