SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gene Pool Marlin of Chatham, who passed away on July 17, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Gene Marlin was born in Heralds Prairie Township to Charles and Doris Lucille (Pool) Marlin on September 18, 1941; he married Carol Ann (Broaddus) Marlin on January 1, 1982; he received an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, Gene Marlin had a career with the Illinois State Police that spanned three decades; he served as a trooper and earned promotion through several ranks and positions; after 36 years of service, he retired as director of the Illinois State Police; and

WHEREAS, Gene Marlin was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Gene Marlin is survived by his sons, Douglas (Angie) Marlin and Christopher (Maggie) Weidler; his daughter, Brenda Jo Marlin-Miller; his grandchildren, Rachel (fiancé, Dan) Marlin, Brett (Maycee) Marlin, Blake (fiancé, Jazmine) Marlin, Lilly and Molly Weidler, Dylan (fiancé, Becca) Miller, and Wyatt Miller; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gene Pool Marlin and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gene Marlin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
