HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is of the upmost importance for all entities
3throughout the State of Illinois to express support for our
4country and State by only flying the American flag and the
5Illinois State flag; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The American flag and Illinois State flag are
7representative of the diverse make up of this State and this
8country, making flying any other flag unnecessary; and
 
9    WHEREAS, All people from different walks of life are
10welcome to our State where people are free to be themselves to
11the fullest, a freedom that our American flag represents best;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, In light of recent events in the world, there
14have been public institutes throughout the United States and
15Illinois that have taken it upon themselves to fly foreign
16flags alongside or instead of the United States flag; this is a
17disgrace to our country and to those who have made sacrifices
18to keep this country the best in the world; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The United States has been a trailblazer for
20freedom by demonstrating what is achievable in a country while
21providing a blueprint for other nations to follow to provide

1the luxury of freedom; there is no place for our public
2entities in this State to fly foreign flags; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we urge all entities throughout Illinois to fly only the
6American flag and the State of Illinois flag; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8delivered to Secretary of the State Alexi Giannoulias to
9express our concern.
