HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is of the upmost importance for all entities throughout the State of Illinois to express support for our country and State by only flying the American flag and the Illinois State flag; and

WHEREAS, The American flag and Illinois State flag are representative of the diverse make up of this State and this country, making flying any other flag unnecessary; and

WHEREAS, All people from different walks of life are welcome to our State where people are free to be themselves to the fullest, a freedom that our American flag represents best; and

WHEREAS, In light of recent events in the world, there have been public institutes throughout the United States and Illinois that have taken it upon themselves to fly foreign flags alongside or instead of the United States flag; this is a disgrace to our country and to those who have made sacrifices to keep this country the best in the world; and

WHEREAS, The United States has been a trailblazer for freedom by demonstrating what is achievable in a country while providing a blueprint for other nations to follow to provide the luxury of freedom; there is no place for our public entities in this State to fly foreign flags; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge all entities throughout Illinois to fly only the American flag and the State of Illinois flag; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be delivered to Secretary of the State Alexi Giannoulias to express our concern.
