HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, CSI Jeremy Hansen and COIII Shelly Hill have been awarded the prestigious Lifesaver Award by the Missouri Department of Corrections for their actions on December 31, 2023 while employed at the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Acting Shift Commander CSI Hansen and COIII Green were on duty when CSI Hansen was notified that a member of the Northeast Correctional Center staff was in the process of taking his own life; and

WHEREAS, CSI Hansen and COIII Green immediately began attempting to contact the staff member and locate him, but, after failing to make contact with the individual, they enlisted the help of local county and police departments; and

WHEREAS, The Hannibal Police Department found the individual after being provided with his last known location and a description of his car provided by CSI Hansen and COIII Green; and

WHEREAS, The individual was quickly moved to the local hospital where life-saving measures were successfully taken; and

WHEREAS, The outcome of this event could have been drastically different if it weren't for the quick and unyielding dedication on the parts of CSI Hansen and COIII Green; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend CSI Jeremy Hansen and COIII Shelly Green for going above and beyond the call of duty to save a fellow officer in distress, reflecting great merit upon themselves and the entire law enforcement community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to CSI Hansen and COIII Green as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
