SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" Appenzeller of Mackinaw, who passed away on February 3, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Appenzeller was born on July 20, 1937 in Normal; his parents were Clarence and Mary Etta Walker Appenzeller; he married Arlene C. McGuffin on September 2, 1961 in Round Lake; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Appenzeller served in the United States Air National Guard from 1958 to 1964, which included the time of the Berlin Crisis; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Appenzeller was a farmer for most of his life in the Mackinaw area; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Appenzeller was a member of the Mackinaw Christian Church, where he had been a deacon, elder, and board chairman; he also had been a member of the Tazewell County Board, Tazewell County Sheriff's Merit Commission, and Mackinaw Valley Water Authority; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Appenzeller was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Appenzeller is survived by his wife; his daughter, Nancy (Steve) Tate; his son, J.J. (Dani) Appenzeller; his grandchildren, Travis Tate, Alison Tate, Lilly Mai Appenzeller, Natasha Appenzeller, and Hayden Appenzeller; his twin brother, John Appenzeller; and his sister, Rhea (Jim) Cornwell; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Gerald "Jerry" Appenzeller; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald Appenzeller as an expression of our sympathy.
