SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nathan Ramis, who passed away on November 24, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was employed with the Civilian Conservation Corps, performing various jobs within America’s national parks; during World War II, he was employed in a B-29 assembly plant; and

WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis operated the Ace Food & Liquor Mart in Chicago for many years before moving the store and his family to the Rogers Park area in 1955; in the 1960s, he sold the grocery store and entered the scrap-metal business before moving to the Village of Northbrook; and

WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis enjoyed sports betting, reading, and good comedy; and

WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth; and

WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis is survived by his sons, Harold and Steven Ramis; his 3 grandchildren; and his numerous great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Nathan Ramis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nathan Ramis as an expression of our sympathy.
