SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Nathan Ramis, who passed away on November
4 24, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was born and raised on the West Side
6 of Chicago; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was employed with the Civilian
8 Conservation Corps, performing various jobs within America’s
9 national parks; during World War II, he was employed in a B-29
10 assembly plant; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis operated the Ace Food & Liquor Mart
12 in Chicago for many years before moving the store and his
13 family to the Rogers Park area in 1955; in the 1960s, he sold
14 the grocery store and entered the scrap-metal business before
15 moving to the Village of Northbrook; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis enjoyed sports betting, reading, and
17 good comedy; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis was preceded in death by his beloved
19 wife, Ruth; and

1     WHEREAS, Nathan Ramis is survived by his sons, Harold and
2 Steven Ramis; his 3 grandchildren; and his numerous
3 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
5 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6 his family and friends, the passing of Nathan Ramis; and be it
7 further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the family of Nathan Ramis as an expression of our
10 sympathy.
