HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the students that make up C2S2, "Climate Change Student Summit", of Clifford Crone Middle School in Naperville; and

WHEREAS, After a visit by Mrs. Louise Huffman, Coordinator of Education and Public Outreach for Andrill, the group of students became inspired to encourage others to save the environment; and

WHEREAS, Andrill (ANtarctic geological DRILLing) is a multinational collaboration that recovers stratigraphic records from the Antarctic margin to compare current and past climate changes; and

WHEREAS, The students have participated in events to help others better understand climate change issues; the events have included a trip to the Fermi Laboratory in Batavia, the International Climate Summit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, where they participated in the first International Video Climate Conference, and the Cool Ride-Clean Choice environmental event held in Naperville; and

WHEREAS, The students have spoken to other groups and school districts, helping them to begin their own science programs based on environmental and climate related issues; and

WHEREAS, The students that make up C2S2 are Joey Amaro, Brooke Bedford, Ashely Collins, Alex Napoli, Andrew Geers, Gerard Lamb, Ben Hunter, Jeremy Royko, Michael Whaley, Kevin Osoba, Catherine Horsley, Shivani Shah, Andrew McManus, Maureen Tite, Megan Childs, Santino Morena, Casey Gahrs, Corey Worley, Taylor Panczyk, Danaya Siripun, Jasmine Merchant, Ryan Sullivan, Lauren Cicero, and Michelle Poulsen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the students of C2S2 for their hard work and dedication to helping save our planet; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the students of C2S2 as a symbol of our respect.
