1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Cary-Grove High
4 School football team, the Trojans, on winning the 2023
5 Illinois High School Association Class 6A State Championship;
6 and

7     WHEREAS, The Trojans defeated East St. Louis High School
8 in a thrilling 23 to 20 victory on November 25, 2023 at Hancock
9 Stadium in Normal on the campus of Illinois State University;
10 and

11     WHEREAS, The Trojans overcame a five-point fourth-quarter
12 deficit with 1 minute 19 seconds remaining; and

13     WHEREAS, The Trojans compiled a season record of 12 wins
14 and 2 losses on their way to the championship and won 17 of
15 their last 18 playoff games; and

16     WHEREAS, This is the Trojans second championship in three
17 seasons; therefore, be it

18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19 HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20 we congratulate the Cary-Grove High School football team, the

1 Trojans, on winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association
2 Class 6A State Championship and wish them many more successful
3 seasons; and be it further

4     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
5 presented to the Trojan players and coaches as a symbol of our
6 respect and esteem.
