SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Maurice R. Hill of Edwardsville, who passed away on October 12, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Maurice R. Hill was born June 4, 1919, in Granite City; he attended Webster Elementary School and Granite City Community High School; he also attended St. Louis University undergraduate school and St. Louis University School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 1943; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hill was a captain in the United States Army during World War II, and served as a dentist in field hospitals in Europe; in 1942 he married Rita V. Kelahan at St. Theresa Church in St. Louis; and in 1949 he moved his family to Edwardsville, where he started his dental practice; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hill retired from his dental practice in 1992; he was a past president of the Madison District Dental Society; he was a long time member of St. Boniface Parish in Edwardsville and the Knights of Columbus; he enjoyed gardening, baseball, bowling, horseracing, and fly fishing; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Rita V. Hill; his parents, Rolland and Cecelia, nee Lux, Hill; a sister, Eileen (Bob) Watt; a daughter-in-law, Penelope A., nee Thatcher, Hill; and a grandson, Gregory J. Hill; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Maurice Hill is survived by his children, M. Joseph Hill, Maureen E. (Gordon) Levine, Dr. M. Robert (Dotty) Hill, Thomas A. (Bonnie) Hill, Rita M. (E.J.) Schwager, Dr. James R. (Diane) Hill, Edward P. (Kathy) Hill, David M. (Kris) Hill, Dr. M. Jean (Dr. John) Schad, Judith A. Hill and friend, James Hembrough, Christopher P. (Kay) Hill, Dr. Gregory A. (Barb) Hill, and Barbara M. (Dr. Roger) Yusen; his 39 grandchildren; his 22 great-grandchildren; and his two brothers, Marvin Joseph (Gen) Hill and Dr. Robert S. (Annabelle) Hill; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Maurice Hill; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Maurice Hill as a symbol of our sympathy.
