SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Dr. Maurice R. Hill of Edwardsville, who
4 passed away on October 12, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Dr. Maurice R. Hill was born June 4, 1919, in
6 Granite City; he attended Webster Elementary School and Granite
7 City Community High School; he also attended St. Louis
8 University undergraduate school and St. Louis University
9 School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 1943; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Dr. Hill was a captain in the United States Army
11 during World War II, and served as a dentist in field hospitals
12 in Europe; in 1942 he married Rita V. Kelahan at St. Theresa
13 Church in St. Louis; and in 1949 he moved his family to
14 Edwardsville, where he started his dental practice; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Dr. Hill retired from his dental practice in 1992;
16 he was a past president of the Madison District Dental Society;
17 he was a long time member of St. Boniface Parish in
18 Edwardsville and the Knights of Columbus; he enjoyed gardening,
19 baseball, bowling, horseracing, and fly fishing; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Dr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Rita
21 V. Hill; his parents, Rolland and Cecelia, nee Lux, Hill; a

1 sister, Eileen (Bob) Watt; a daughter-in-law, Penelope A., nee
2 Thatcher, Hill; and a grandson, Gregory J. Hill; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Dr. Maurice Hill is survived by his children, M.
4 Joseph Hill, Maureen E. (Gordon) Levine, Dr. M. Robert (Dotty)
5 Hill, Thomas A. (Bonnie) Hill, Rita M. (E.J.) Schwager, Dr.
6 James R. (Diane) Hill, Edward P. (Kathy) Hill, David M. (Kris)
7 Hill, Dr. M. Jean (Dr. John) Schad, Judith A. Hill and friend,
8 James Hembrough, Christopher P. (Kay) Hill, Dr. Gregory A.
9 (Barb) Hill, and Barbara M. (Dr. Roger) Yusen; his 39
10 grandchildren; his 22 great-grandchildren; and his two
11 brothers, Marvin Joseph (Gen) Hill and Dr. Robert S.
12 (Annabelle) Hill; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Maurice Hill; and be
16 it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Dr. Maurice Hill as a symbol of our
19 sympathy.
