SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ora Lee King of Gurnee, who passed away on August 14, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Ora Lee King was born on September 9, 1915 in Highlands, North Carolina; she moved to Waukegan in the late 1930's, living there until 1961; she then moved to Gurnee; and

WHEREAS, Ora Lee King was a 65 year member of First Baptist Church in Waukegan, where she served in the church's nursery for many years; she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 55 years; she was a cub scout den mother in the 1950's and was a member of the National Home Furnishing Association and the Chamber of Commerce; she worked part time at Kupperman's Furniture in Waukegan; she co-founded King's Home Furnishings with her husband, Henry, in 1959; in 1970, she and her son Ronnie started King's Properties, Inc.; she was secretary-treasurer for both businesses until her retirement; during her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world with her sisters; and

WHEREAS, Ora Lee King was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry P. King; her second husband, Herman Hillesheim; her parents, Robin and Sudie Clark; her brothers, John, Walter, Elmer, Robert, and Zeb Clark; her sisters, Leona Williams and Hilda Zears; and her stepson, Jerry Hillesheim; and

WHEREAS, Ora Lee King is survived by her son, Ronnie (Pat) King; her adopted sons, Hoyt (Betty) King and Ray King; her stepson, Larry (Linda) Hillesheim; her grandchildren, Andrea R. Woods, Derek H. King, Timothy King, Chris King, Billy King, Brett Hillesheim, Cory Hillesheim, and Tara Hillesheim; her great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph Clark and Amos Clark; her sisters, Mary Clark and Mildred Dougherty; her many nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver for four years, Grace Godishala, and her helper, Teresa Fraczkiewicz; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Ora Lee King; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ora Lee King as an expression of our sympathy.
