SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Ora Lee King of Gurnee, who passed away
4 on August 14, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Ora Lee King was born on September 9, 1915 in
6 Highlands, North Carolina; she moved to Waukegan in the late
7 1930's, living there until 1961; she then moved to Gurnee; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Ora Lee King was a 65 year member of First Baptist
9 Church in Waukegan, where she served in the church's nursery
10 for many years; she was a member of the Order of the Eastern
11 Star for over 55 years; she was a cub scout den mother in the
12 1950's and was a member of the National Home Furnishing
13 Association and the Chamber of Commerce; she worked part time
14 at Kupperman's Furniture in Waukegan; she co-founded King's
15 Home Furnishings with her husband, Henry, in 1959; in 1970, she
16 and her son Ronnie started King's Properties, Inc.; she was
17 secretary-treasurer for both businesses until her retirement;
18 during her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world with her
19 sisters; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Ora Lee King was preceded in death by her first
21 husband, Henry P. King; her second husband, Herman Hillesheim;
22 her parents, Robin and Sudie Clark; her brothers, John, Walter,

1 Elmer, Robert, and Zeb Clark; her sisters, Leona Williams and
2 Hilda Zears; and her stepson, Jerry Hillesheim; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Ora Lee King is survived by her son, Ronnie (Pat)
4 King; her adopted sons, Hoyt (Betty) King and Ray King; her
5 stepson, Larry (Linda) Hillesheim; her grandchildren, Andrea
6 R. Woods, Derek H. King, Timothy King, Chris King, Billy King,
7 Brett Hillesheim, Cory Hillesheim, and Tara Hillesheim; her
8 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph Clark and Amos
9 Clark; her sisters, Mary Clark and Mildred Dougherty; her many
10 nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver for four years,
11 Grace Godishala, and her helper, Teresa Fraczkiewicz;
12 therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 her family and friends, the passing of Ora Lee King; and be it
16 further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Ora Lee King as an expression of our
19 sympathy.
