SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jane Radostits of Lockport, who passed away on May 11, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Jane Radostits grew up in Chicago; she graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago and John Marshall Law School; and

WHEREAS, Jane Radostits began her career as a Cook County prosecutor in 1986; she relocated to DuPage County in 1997; she was the deputy chief of the special prosecutions division in the DuPage County state's attorney's office; she oversaw the prosecution of many types of cases, including major crimes, public corruption, domestic violence and child abuse; and

WHEREAS, Jane Radostits was named prosecutor of the year by the Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association in 2006; she was active in Republican Party politics and aspired to be a judge; she was one of two finalists for an associate judgeship in 2006 and it was widely believed she soon would be appointed to the bench; and

WHEREAS, Jane Radostits is remembered by all who knew her as a hero to an entire generation of crime victims and their families, especially children, and as a vibrant, personable, and warm person who would go out of her way to do anything for anybody, and frequently did; and

WHEREAS, Jane Radostits was the beloved wife of Frank Radostits; the devoted mother of Kate and Frankie Radostits; the loving sister of Cathy (Tony) Di Orio and John LaFlamboy; the adored daughter-in-law of Frank Radostits; the cherished sister-in-law of Arlene (Thomas) Cohan; and the favorite Auntie Jane of Melissa, Mark, John, Brian, Mikey, Kyle, Tim, and Michele; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Jane Radostits; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jane Radostits as an expression of our sympathy.
