SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Alan Swetland of Vandalia, who passed away on April 19, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was born September 8, 1940 in Fillmore; his parents were Roy and Ruth (McDonough) Swetland; and

WHEREAS, Charles Swetland and Hope Traylor were married on October 28, 1965 in Mt. Vernon; and

WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a graduate of Ramsey High School; he worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections at the State of Illinois Corrections Center for 26 years; and he was CEO of Swetland Supply and Swetland Internet; and

WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a member of the Optimist Club, the Vandalia and Fillmore Masonic Lodge, the Ansar Shrine, Scottish Rite in St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a champion of the "underdogs" in the community, helping people receive assistance, food, and jobs; he worked to get people on the right track in Vandalia and was always available with his time and talents; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Swetland will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Hope; his son, C.A. Swetland; his sisters, Maxine Leander and Margaret Milleville; and his brother, John Swetland; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and those whose lives he touched, the passing of Charles Swetland; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Swetland as a symbol of our sympathy.
