SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Charles Alan Swetland of Vandalia, who
4 passed away on April 19, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was born September 8, 1940 in
6 Fillmore; his parents were Roy and Ruth (McDonough) Swetland;
7 and
 
8     WHEREAS, Charles Swetland and Hope Traylor were married on
9 October 28, 1965 in Mt. Vernon; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a graduate of Ramsey High
11 School; he worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections at
12 the State of Illinois Corrections Center for 26 years; and he
13 was CEO of Swetland Supply and Swetland Internet; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a member of the Optimist
15 Club, the Vandalia and Fillmore Masonic Lodge, the Ansar
16 Shrine, Scottish Rite in St. Louis; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a champion of the "underdogs"
18 in the community, helping people receive assistance, food, and
19 jobs; he worked to get people on the right track in Vandalia
20 and was always available with his time and talents; and

1     WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Swetland will be deeply
2 felt by all those who knew and loved him, especially his wife,
3 Hope; his son, C.A. Swetland; his sisters, Maxine Leander and
4 Margaret Milleville; and his brother, John Swetland;
5 therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family, friends, and those whose lives he touched, the
9 passing of Charles Swetland; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Charles Swetland as a symbol of our
12 sympathy.
