HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Francis Leo Polifka of Hurst, who passed away on August 10, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka was born on December 13, 1928, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin; his parents were Frank and Anita (Warner) Polifka; he married Florence Tackett on April 23, 1994; and

WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka served in the United States Navy from July 3, 1946 to July 6, 1948; and

WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka worked as a machinist for 20 years at the Brillion Iron Works in Brillion, Wisconsin; he served as a part-time policeman for the City of Brillion; he worked as a security guard at K-Mart in Appleton, Wisconsin; and he worked as a security guard at Statesville Prison and Joliet Correctional Center; and

WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka was a member of the American Legion in Zeigler and was an alderman for the Third Ward in the City of Hurst; he was a member of the First Christian Church in Hurst; he loved polka music and fried chicken; and he loved airplanes and was a former pilot; and

WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anita Polifka; his brother, Raymond Polifka; his sister, Maryann Friedenberger; and his second wife, Mildred Polifka; and

WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka is survived by his wife, Florence Polifka; his children, Roger Polifka and his wife, Kathy, Rozanne Bird and her husband, Timothy, Steve Polifka, John Polifka, and Judy Polifka; his grandchildren, Brian Polifka and his wife, Anna, Traci Polifka, Laura Schoeneck and her husband, Chris, and Nathan Bird; his stepchildren, Cheryl Horn and her husband, Dean, and Kevin Schimpf and his wife, Brenda; his step-grandchildren, Dena Teague and her husband, Eddie, Amy Horn, John Horn and his wife, Brandee, Kendra Horn, Chad Schimpf, Ryan Schimpf, and Zack Schimpf; his step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Edward Polifka; his sister, Evelyn Yanda and her husband, Joe; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Francis Leo Polifka; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Francis Leo Polifka as an expression of our sympathy.
