HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Francis
4 Leo Polifka of Hurst, who passed away on August 10, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka was born on December 13, 1928,
6 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin; his parents were Frank and Anita
7 (Warner) Polifka; he married Florence Tackett on April 23,
8 1994; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka served in the United States
10 Navy from July 3, 1946 to July 6, 1948; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka worked as a machinist for 20
12 years at the Brillion Iron Works in Brillion, Wisconsin; he
13 served as a part-time policeman for the City of Brillion; he
14 worked as a security guard at K-Mart in Appleton, Wisconsin;
15 and he worked as a security guard at Statesville Prison and
16 Joliet Correctional Center; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka was a member of the American
18 Legion in Zeigler and was an alderman for the Third Ward in the
19 City of Hurst; he was a member of the First Christian Church in
20 Hurst; he loved polka music and fried chicken; and he loved
21 airplanes and was a former pilot; and

1     WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka was preceded in death by his
2 parents, Frank and Anita Polifka; his brother, Raymond Polifka;
3 his sister, Maryann Friedenberger; and his second wife, Mildred
4 Polifka; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Francis Leo Polifka is survived by his wife,
6 Florence Polifka; his children, Roger Polifka and his wife,
7 Kathy, Rozanne Bird and her husband, Timothy, Steve Polifka,
8 John Polifka, and Judy Polifka; his grandchildren, Brian
9 Polifka and his wife, Anna, Traci Polifka, Laura Schoeneck and
10 her husband, Chris, and Nathan Bird; his stepchildren, Cheryl
11 Horn and her husband, Dean, and Kevin Schimpf and his wife,
12 Brenda; his step-grandchildren, Dena Teague and her husband,
13 Eddie, Amy Horn, John Horn and his wife, Brandee, Kendra Horn,
14 Chad Schimpf, Ryan Schimpf, and Zack Schimpf; his
15 step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Edward Polifka; his
16 sister, Evelyn Yanda and her husband, Joe; and his many nieces
17 and nephews; therefore, be it
 
18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
21 Francis Leo Polifka; and be it further
 
22     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
