SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

765 ILCS 705/20 new

Amends the Landlord and Tenant Act. Provides that the total amount of a security deposit and nonrefundable move-in fees, except for any additional fee for pets, may not exceed the amount of one-half of the first full month's rent for the tenant's dwelling unit.

AN ACT concerning civil law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Landlord and Tenant Act is amended by adding Section 20 as follows:

(765 ILCS 705/20 new)

Sec. 20. Security deposit limitation. The total amount of a security deposit and nonrefundable move-in fees, except for any additional fee for pets, may not exceed the amount of one-half of the first full month's rent for the tenant's dwelling unit.
