SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Jimmie D. "Jim" Hess of Marion on July 18, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hess was born June 4, 1946, in Marion, to Robert T. "Bob" and Margaret Lucille (Alsup) Hess; and

WHEREAS, He was in the U.S. Navy, where he was a top watch boiler, making repairs and organizing the repair crew; he received an honorable discharge, as well as many other medals and awards, and later transferred to the Naval Reserve; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church; he was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family; he worked as a coal miner at Kerr McGee, where he received many mining certificates; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Perry Dean Hess; several aunts and uncles; a special great-niece, Angel Ann Sheppard; and a special sister-in-law, Barbara Hess; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Jimmie Hess is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his mother, June Donelson Hess; his brothers, Johnny Hess, Bobby Hess and wife Sheila, Jeff Hess, and Timothy J. "Joe" Hess and wife Teresa; his sister, Roberta Goldsmith and husband Stan; his sister-in-law, Aleen Hess; his nieces, Margaret Hutton and husband Valley, Janice Kniffen and husband Michael, and Patti Williamson and husband Jeff; his nephews, Jimmy Jarvis Hess and wife Heather, Tim Teeling and wife Tammy, Mike Teeling and wife Bertha, and Daniel Teeling; his special great-nieces, Chastity and Johna Hutton and special great-nephew, Westley Hutton; and his numerous great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our most sincere regret at the passing of Jimmie Hess and extend our condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
