SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of James L. Chamness of Cobden on July 12, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Chamness was born March 9, 1929, in Cobden, the son of Raymond and Elva Haley Chamness; he married Janie L. Nance on June 9, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden; he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict; he was a self-employed plumber by trade for most of his life; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Kenneth and Paul Glenn Chamness; and

WHEREAS, The passing of James Chamness is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his children, Mike and wife Virginia Chamness, Scott and wife Vicki Chamness, David and wife Tammy Chamness, Terrie and husband Willie Rhymer, and Debbie and husband James Walker; his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his sisters, Helen Summers, Delores and husband Bill Witthoft, and Bertha Seske; and his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Chamness and extend our sincerest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
