SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Carl D. Chaney of Benton on Wednesday, July 6, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born in Benton on December 23, 1922, to John and Myrtle (Beltz) Chaney; he married Marcella Kwiatkowski on January 17, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan; she preceded him in death; and

WHEREAS, Carl Doyle Chaney valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge on January 19, 1946; he loved his family and his country; and

WHEREAS, He was a retired UMWA coal miner and avid fisherman; for the last five years, Mr. Chaney had been residing in Villa Ridge, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Carl D. Chaney has been deeply felt by many, especially his daughter, Cindy Rumsey; his son, Gary Chaney and wife, Cathy; his grandchildren, Tina Matheis and husband, Rob, Chris Rumsey, and Brad Chaney; his great-grandsons, Nicolas and Trent Matheis; his step-grandchildren, Joshuah Lemons and wife, Amanda, and Justin and Jamie Lemons; his great-step-grandsons, Paxton Higgerson and Cameron Lemons; his brother, Clarence Chaney and wife, Donna; his sister, Johnie Mae Dallape; and his many nieces and nephews; he was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and an infant son; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Carl D. Chaney, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
