HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The 69th General Assembly in 1955 established the University of Illinois Police Training Institute for the purpose of training police officers in the State of Illinois in the methods of maintaining police services at a level consistent with the needs of the community; and

WHEREAS, Over the last 50 years, more than 150,000 Illinois police officers have attended courses at the Institute; and

WHEREAS, The Institute is now a recognized national and international leader in the development and delivery of viable curricula to meet the contemporary needs of police officers; and

WHEREAS, The Institute continues to provide training to agencies throughout the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Institute has developed curricula and delivery methods that have become models for training programs throughout the United States; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the unique contributions of the University of Illinois Police Training Institute are recognized on the anniversary of the Institute's 50th year of service to Illinois Law Enforcement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to University of Illinois President Joseph B. White in honor of all those employees of the Institute responsible for its success.
