SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of John Louis Rubich of Waukegan, formerly of North Chicago, on Wednesday, May 26, 2004; and

WHEREAS, John Louis Rubich was born on October 4, 1931, in Elkton, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rubich was employed at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago for 28 years; pursuing a second career, he was the Water Superintendent of North Chicago and supervised the building of the new water plant; and

WHEREAS, Besides his professional life, he loved politics; he served the citizens of North Chicago in several offices; he was a Ward Committeeman of the first ward and Alderman of the first ward in North Chicago; he served as a school board member in both the grade school and high school boards in North Chicago, and also served the citizens of Waukegan Township as a Trustee; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rubich was a Master Mason and a lifetime member of the American-Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzans and President of St. Mary's Lodge #75; he was also a 50-year member of the Slovenian National Benefit Society (SNPJ) and a member of the North Chicago Police Pension Board; and

WHEREAS, John Louis Rubich was loved by many and he will be greatly missed; especially by his wife, Helen; his two children, Christina and Louis; his three sisters, Marjorie Buckoski, Violet Cahnand, and Mildred Oesch; and his brother, Roy; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Rubich and Kathryn (Nuzum) Rubich; and an uncle, Peter Rubich; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of John Louis Rubich along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Louis Rubich as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
