AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 24-3.1 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/24-3.1 new)

Sec. 24-3.1. Attendance for federal advocacy work. For any teacher who is a member of a statewide association representing teachers, who is elected by the association's membership to represent the association for federal advocacy work, for up to 10 days in any school year spent by a teacher during the term, time spent in attendance at a meeting or gathering for federal advocacy work shall be considered time expended in the service of the district and no deduction of wages shall be made for such attendance.
