SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ethan Harold Mahoney of rural Alexander, who passed away on April 15, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney was born in Springfield to Michael A. and Becky (Leach) Mahoney on July 7, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney was a senior at A-C Central High School in Ashland; he was a member of the basketball team, the bass fishing team, and the Future Farmers of America; he was also a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney loved listening to country music in his truck and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and University of Illinois basketball; he loved helping on the family farm and being around the animals; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney always had a smile on his face, never met a stranger, and had a knack for making everyone laugh; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney is survived by his parents; his siblings, Quinlan, Wyatt, and Ainsley Mahoney; his grandparents, Donald and Linda Mahoney, Lyn and Roger Dietz, and Ed and Dianne Leach; his great-grandfather, Gordon Smedley; his uncles and aunts, Mark (Grainne) Mahoney, Chad (Jenny) Mahoney, Beth (Jeff) Hopkins, Brett (Kerry) Leach, and Sara (David) Thomas; and numerous cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ethan Harold Mahoney and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ethan Mahoney as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
