SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Darrel Dean Randolph of Carbon Cliff,
4who passed away on February 22, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Darrel Randolph was born to Raymond and Evelyn
6(Woodruff) Randolph in Columbus Junction, Iowa on June 25,
71933; he graduated from United Township High School in 1951,
8where he lettered in football, basketball, and track; as a
9sophomore, he competed in the running high jump at the 1949
10State Track and Field Championship Meet; he served as a U.S.
11Army paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, Fort Campbell,
12Kentucky; he married Janice Hollister in Port Byron on
13September 28, 1953; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Darrel Randolph was employed by John Deere
15Harvester Works, where he worked as a tool designer, a shop
16supervisor, a process planner, a methods engineer, and an
17engineering analyst before retiring in 1984; he began working
18as an industrial engineering technician for the Rock Island
19Arsenal in 1985, retiring as a lead industrial engineering
20technician in 1996; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Darrel Randolph had many hobbies throughout his
22life, including fishing, square dancing, genealogy,

1photography, bird watching, and gardening; he loved music, and
2he never missed a Silvis Country Music Festival and often
3attended the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival; he also
4loved spending time with family and friends; he enjoyed
5wintering in Florida with his wife, Janice, many times,
6exploring parks and nature preserves to photograph birds and
7wildlife; he also enjoyed meeting his high school classmates
8for breakfast twice a month; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Darrel Randolph was known as a compassionate,
10patient, generous, and intellectual man who was always willing
11to help a neighbor, share produce from his garden or his wealth
12of knowledge, and offer sage advice; he will be remembered as a
13dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Darrel Randolph was preceded in death by his
15parents; his wife of 68 years, Janice; his daughter, Cathy
16Gamino; his daughter-in-law, Lisa (DeWulf) Randolph; his
17siblings, Richard Randolph and Helen Miller; his
18parents-in-law, Marguerite and Harold Hollister; his
19brothers-in-law, Terry Miller, Truman Langhofer, Jon "Jack"
20Hollister, and Harold French; and many other relatives and
21friends; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Darrel Randolph is survived by his son-in-law,
23Rolando Gamino; his children, Gary Randolph and Susan (Al

1Terronez) Randolph; his grandchildren, John Gamino, Dr. Aaron
2Gamino, Dustan Smith, Andrew (Sammi) DeWulf, Tyler Randolph,
3Eric (Becky) Terronez, and Brandon (Monica) Terronez; his
4great-grandchildren, Scarlett DeWulf, Cole Terronez, Paige
5Terronez, Reagan Terronez, Logan Terronez, Ronin Terronez, and
6Riley Terronez; his sisters-in-law, Dianne (Pokorny) Randolph,
7Kathy Kish, Nelda Langhofer, Shirley Hollister, and Marjorie
8French; and many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be
9it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Darrel Dean Randolph and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Darrel Randolph as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
