SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to congratulate the Crystal Lake South High School boys soccer team, the Gators, on winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 2A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Gators defeated Peoria Notre Dame High School by a score of 2 to 1 on November 4, 2023 at Hoffman Estates High School, winning their second championship in five years; and

WHEREAS, The Gators won their 2nd straight Fox Valley Conference title, the 14th in school history, their 6th straight IHSA Regional title, the 12th in school history, their 3rd IHSA Sectional title, and their 3rd IHSA Super Sectional title; and

WHEREAS, The Gators compiled a record of 22 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie on their way to the championship, and these 22 wins tie the school record for wins in a season; the team also achieved the 2nd most shutouts in school history with 14 and the 2nd most consecutive wins in school history with 12; and

WHEREAS, The Gators are led by Head Coach Brian Allen and assistant coaches, Tony Allen, Zane Boettcher, and Adam Gatza; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Gators are Nolan Schofield, Chris Slawek, Diego Paguada, Rishi Patel, Steven Smith, Will Prus, Blake Marunde, Nick Prus, Hayden Stone, Ali Ahmed, Nolan Getzinger, Nico Velasco, Francisco Garcia, Pierce Johnson, Zach Vallicelli, Parker Zilm, Dustin Banner, Josh Moreno, Mason Ross, Roberto Lopez, Anthony Pupillo, Garrett Hess, Brendan Lewis, and Dennis Adusah; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Crystal Lake South High School boys soccer team, the Gators, on winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 2A State Championship and wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Gators' players and coaches as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
