SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jerry Michael "Mike" Hull of Monmouth,
4who passed away on August 16, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Hull was born to Jerry O. and Bette J.
6(Pirtle) Hull in Burlington, Iowa on November 21, 1949; he was
7raised and educated in Media, graduating from Media High
8School in 1967; he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to
91970, with a tour of duty in Vietnam; he married Elaine A.
10Blender at the Raritan Reformed Church in Raritan on August 9,
111969; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mike Hull was a farmer for almost 50 years,
13raising livestock in Warren and Henderson counties; he also
14worked as a correctional officer at the Hill Correctional
15Center in Galesburg for 15 years before retiring in 2014; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mike Hull was affectionately called "Grandpa
17Wishes"; he was known for his quick wit and loved telling
18stories, especially about his children and their childhood;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mike Hull was man of stability and generosity,
21modeling consistency and integrity, who dearly loved his

1family and took great pride in providing them with a stable
2home life; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mike Hull was preceded in death by his parents
4and his sisters, Linda Gipe and Connie Mowen; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Hull is survived by his wife of 54 years,
6Elaine Hull; his daughters, Jera (Brad) Deal and Jona (Mark)
7Cox; his grandchildren, Allie (Gabe) Meister, Julianna Deal,
8Lily Deal, Mitchell Cox, Caden Cox, and Abby Cox; and his
9great-granddaughter, Mia Kate Meister; his siblings, Steve
10Hull and Penny Moore; and several nieces and nephews;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Jerry Michael "Mike" Hull and extend our sincere condolences
15to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Mike Hull as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
