SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jerry Michael "Mike" Hull of Monmouth, who passed away on August 16, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Mike Hull was born to Jerry O. and Bette J. (Pirtle) Hull in Burlington, Iowa on November 21, 1949; he was raised and educated in Media, graduating from Media High School in 1967; he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1970, with a tour of duty in Vietnam; he married Elaine A. Blender at the Raritan Reformed Church in Raritan on August 9, 1969; and

WHEREAS, Mike Hull was a farmer for almost 50 years, raising livestock in Warren and Henderson counties; he also worked as a correctional officer at the Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg for 15 years before retiring in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Mike Hull was affectionately called "Grandpa Wishes"; he was known for his quick wit and loved telling stories, especially about his children and their childhood; and

WHEREAS, Mike Hull was man of stability and generosity, modeling consistency and integrity, who dearly loved his family and took great pride in providing them with a stable home life; and

WHEREAS, Mike Hull was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Linda Gipe and Connie Mowen; and

WHEREAS, Mike Hull is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine Hull; his daughters, Jera (Brad) Deal and Jona (Mark) Cox; his grandchildren, Allie (Gabe) Meister, Julianna Deal, Lily Deal, Mitchell Cox, Caden Cox, and Abby Cox; and his great-granddaughter, Mia Kate Meister; his siblings, Steve Hull and Penny Moore; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jerry Michael "Mike" Hull and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mike Hull as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
