SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lawrence "Larry" V. Davis of Hanna
4City, who passed away on August 20, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Davis was born to Leo and Ruth (Churchill)
6Davis on June 6, 1933; he married Sharon Lounsberry Hibbs at
7Lamarsh Baptist Church in Mapleton on July 10, 1976; he served
8in the U.S. Army and the Coast Guard Reserves; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Larry Davis worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 40
10years, retiring in 1990; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Larry Davis was a lifelong member of the Hanna
12City Sportsman Club and Lancaster Lodge No. 106 in Glasford;
13he was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite; he was a past
14member of the Farmington Moose Lodge; he was also a volunteer
15fireman for the Logan-Trivoli Fire Department; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Larry Davis enjoyed fishing, bowling, and
17watching the Chicago Cubs; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Larry Davis was preceded in death by his parents;
19his son, Leo Emerson Davis; his brothers, Charlie, Floyd, and
20Benny; his infant brother; and his sister, Dorothy Hanback;

2    WHEREAS, Larry Davis is survived by by his wife; his four
3children, Mike (Jan) Davis, Lonnie Davis, Beth (Daniel) Hibbs
4Ledbetter, and Stacey Hibbs; his grandchildren; his
5great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dennis Davis; therefore,
6be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Lawrence "Larry" V. Davis and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Larry Davis as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
