SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence "Larry" V. Davis of Hanna City, who passed away on August 20, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Larry Davis was born to Leo and Ruth (Churchill) Davis on June 6, 1933; he married Sharon Lounsberry Hibbs at Lamarsh Baptist Church in Mapleton on July 10, 1976; he served in the U.S. Army and the Coast Guard Reserves; and

WHEREAS, Larry Davis worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Larry Davis was a lifelong member of the Hanna City Sportsman Club and Lancaster Lodge No. 106 in Glasford; he was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite; he was a past member of the Farmington Moose Lodge; he was also a volunteer fireman for the Logan-Trivoli Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Larry Davis enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Larry Davis was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Leo Emerson Davis; his brothers, Charlie, Floyd, and Benny; his infant brother; and his sister, Dorothy Hanback; and

WHEREAS, Larry Davis is survived by by his wife; his four children, Mike (Jan) Davis, Lonnie Davis, Beth (Daniel) Hibbs Ledbetter, and Stacey Hibbs; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dennis Davis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lawrence "Larry" V. Davis and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Davis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
