Biography: Former small business owner - residential and commercial disaster cleanup and restoration; 5th grade teacher; radio news broadcaster; B.A. in History, Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, MI; first Illinois legislator to entirely opt-out of the state's pension systems; selected to the Council of State Government's BILLD Fellows program in 2011 and the inaugural class of the Edgar Fellows Leadership Program in 2012; married to Bethany and has four children.
