Short description: IDPH-PATIENT SAFETY CENTERS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Public Health to establish a patient safety center to recommend statewide medical safety goals and track the progress of providers in meeting these safety goals, develop a best practices clearinghouse to serve as a clearinghouse of information for providers concerning quality improvement strategies and best practices, and perform other functions. Requires the Department to collect incident data for every event associated with medical intervention, but not the condition that caused the intervention, over which a provider could exercise control and that meets certain criteria. Effective immediately.
