Short description: 
HOSPITALS-STAFF BYLAWS                                                     

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides  that,  when  one  or      
   more  hospitals  combine  or  merge,  the medical staff bylaws of each      
   individual hospital shall remain in effect until such time as the  new      
   entity  and  the  medical  staff can mutually agree upon medical staff      
   bylaws for the new entity.                                                  
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 2.                                                
        Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Hospital      
   Licensing Act. Provides that when one or  more  hospitals  combine  or      
   merge  in  any  manner that does not require any of the parties to the      
   transaction to obtain a new license under the Act, the  medical  staff      
   bylaws  of  each individual hospital shall remain in effect until such      
   time as the bylaws are amended according to the terms of  the  bylaws.      
   Provides that the provisions concerning medical staff bylaws shall not      
   apply  to  a county hospital as defined in specified provisions of the      
   Illinois Public Aid Code.  Effective immediately.                           
          FISCAL NOTE, ENGROSSED (Department of Public Health)                 
          SB 1820, engrossed, does not create a fiscal impact on the           
          Department of Public Health.
