Senate Sponsors: MADIGAN,R. Short description: PENSION CD-RETRO SERVICE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the IMRF Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that the governing body of a participating unit of local government may authorize a current or former elected or appointed official to establish service credit for more than 50 months of prior service for which the official could have elected to participate in the Fund, but did not. (Currently, officials other than county board members are limited to 50 months.) Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission) The fiscal impact of SB642 cannot be determined, as the amount of service credit that will be purchased is unknown. Since SB 642 requires only employee contributions, plus interest, there will be a fiscal impact.
