Senate Sponsors: CULLERTON. Short description: PEN CD-CHGO TCHR-LEAVE ABSENCE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Chicago Teacher Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Eliminates certain restrictions on the types of leave of absence for which credit may be established. Limits the maximum total leave to 36 months. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission) The fiscal impact of SB 143 cannot be determined, as the amount of service credit that would be purchased is unknown. There would be a cost to the Fund for SB 143, as the contributions required would not cover the full cost of the service credit.
