Senate Sponsors: JACOBS-CRONIN Short description: SCH CD-REVIEW BUILDING PLANS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code. Provides that if local fire, building, and plumbing inspectors request a review of school building plans and specifications or if the regional superintendent of schools requests that these inspectors review the plans and specifications, then the school board shall submit a copy of the plans and specifications to the inspectors. Requires these inspectors (or on their behalf, a certified plan reviewer and certified inspector) to comment on the plans and specifications and respond to the regional superintendent. Allows the inspectors, a certified inspector, or a licensed plumber to periodically inspect the actual school construction or alteration and respond with comments to the regional superintendent. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that a copy of the plans and specifications shall be submitted to the local inspectors if the regional superintendent of schools requests that the local inspectors review the plans and specifications only if the municipality, fire district, or county determines that it can accommodate the request. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 3. Provides that a copy of the plans and specifications must be submitted to the local inspectors within 10 days after the plans and specifications have been received by the regional superintendent of schools and prior to the bidding process. Provides that the inspectors must comment on the plans and specifications within 15 business days after a copy of the plans and specifications has been received by the inspectors. Changes the provision concerning inspection of the actual school construction or alteration.
