Short description: 
CRIM CD-FALSE POLICE BADGE                                                 

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.  Provides  that  a  person  who      
   manufactures, sells, trades, exhibits for sale, or offers for sale, an      
   identification  card or badge of a police organization, or a colorable      
   imitation of an identification card or badge of a police organization,      
   knowing  that  his  or  her  conduct  is  not   authorized   by   that      
   organization, commits a Class 4 felony. Effective immediately.              
          FISCAL NOTE (Illinois State Police)                                  
          There will be no fiscal impact to the Illinois State Police.         
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          720 ILCS 5/17-2.1 new                                                
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          720 ILCS 5/32-5.2a new                                               
        Changes the Section number of the new offense to remove the crime      
   from the Deception Article of the Code.  Places  the  offense  in  the      
   Interference  with  Judicial Procedure Article of the Code. Eliminates      
   from the prohibitions of the bill, trading  badges  or  identification      
   cards of a police organization.                                             
          FISCAL NOTE (Illinois Department of Corrections)                     
          The impact on the Department is expect to be minimal. Each           
          person sentenced to prison for a Class 4 felony would serve          
          an average of six months at a cost of $10,319 and would require      
          the construction of one additional prison bed at the cost of         
          $50,510.
