Short description: 
PHARM PRACTICE-FOOD & DRUG                                                 

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act of 1987 and the  Illinois  Food,      
   Drug  and  Cosmetic  Act.   Specifies  that the Illinois Department of      
   Public Health shall develop, maintain,  and  issue  a  drug  formulary      
   listing containing generic substitutes for brand name drugs.                
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Deletes  everything  after  the  enacting  clause.   Amends   the      
   Pharmacy Practice Act of 1987 and the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic      
   Act.   Provides  that,  if the Technical Advisory Council finds that a      
   generic drug product may  have  issues  related  to  the  practice  of      
   medicine  or  the  practice  of pharmacy, the Council shall review the      
   generic drug product.  Provides that following  the  Council's  review      
   and initial recommendation that a generic drug product not be included      
   in  the  Illinois Formulary, a hearing shall be conducted if requested      
   by the manufacturer.  Effective immediately.
