Short description: 
IDPH-TOBACCO $-SCHOOL PROGRAMS                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
         Creates the Tobacco Settlement Proceeds for Smoke-Free Youth Act      
   and amends the State Finance Act.  Provides for grants from the  State      
   Board  of Education to school districts for smoking cessation programs      
   in schools.  Provides that the Board shall make the grants from moneys      
   appropriated to it  for  that  purpose  from  the  Tobacco  Settlement      
   Recovery  Fund,  and provides for the use of one percent of the moneys      
   in the Fund for that purpose.  Effective January 1, 2002.                   
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Provides that $30,000,000 (instead of one percent) of the  moneys      
   in  the Tobacco Settlement Recovery Fund shall be available for grants      
   to school districts.
