Short description: 
SCH CD-MIA-POW SCHOLARSHIP                                                 

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the provisions  of  the  School  Code  concerning  MIA/POW      
   scholarships.   Changes  the  name  to  the  State of Illinois MIA/POW      
   Scholarship.  Provides that if the spouse  or  child  of  an  eligible      
   veteran  or  serviceperson  has  received a similar higher educational      
   benefit from another state prior to applying for a State  of  Illinois      
   MIA/POW  Scholarship,  the  amount  of  time  that the spouse or child      
   received the higher educational benefit from the other state shall  be      
   subtracted  from the 4 calendar years of full-time enrollment that the      
   State of Illinois MIA/POW Scholarship offers. Makes changes concerning      
   being a resident of the State. Provides that if the  surviving  spouse      
   remarries  or  if  there  is  a  divorce  while the spouse (instead of      
   dependent) is  pursuing  his  or  her  course  of  study,  scholarship      
   benefits are terminated at the end of the term.
