MENDOZA-ACEVEDO-BURKE.

   720 ILCS 5/24-1.6                                                           

        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.   Provides  that  a  second  or      
   subsequent   offense  of  aggravated  unlawful  use  of  a  weapon  is      
   punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 years  and  a  maximum      
   sentence  of  14  years  (rather  than  punished as a Class 2 felony).      
   Effective September 1, 2002.                                                
          FISCAL NOTE (Department of Corrections)                              
          HB 4260 would cause an increase of 90 inmates in the                 
          corrections population and would have a fiscal impact of             
          $21,163,500.
