 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Illinois learned with
 3    great sadness of the death of John K. McCann  of  Springfield
 4    on Friday, October 25, 2002; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. McCann was born August 19, 1927 in Gillespie
 6    to John and Susan Higgins McCann; he married Catherine Reilly
 7    in 1953 in Ridgewood, New York; and

 8        WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army from 1950 to
 9    1952;  he  was a member of Church of the Little Flower for 25
10    years and served on the school board  and  as  a  Eucharistic
11    minister;  he was employed by Eisner Food Store for 25 years;
12    he worked as a clerk in the Illinois Comptroller's Office and
13    retired from there in 1989; and

14        WHEREAS, Mr. McCann served on the Sangamon County  Board,
15    the  Woodside  Fire Protection District, and was a Democratic
16    precinct committeeman in Woodside Township; and

17        WHEREAS, The loss of Mr. McCann will  be  felt  by  many,
18    especially  his  wife,  Catherine;  his  daughters, Catherine
19    (husband,  Dennis)  Elston  and  Mary  (husband,  Dr.   John)
20    Leyendecker;  his  sons,  John  (wife,  Janice) McCann, James
21    (wife,  Kelly)  McCann,  and   Michael   McCann;   his   nine
22    grandchildren;    his   two   step-grandchildren;   his   one
23    great-grandchild; his one step-great-grandchild; and his many
24    nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews;  therefore,
25    be it

26        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
27    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
28    John K. McCann and  offer  our  sincere  condolences  to  his
29    family and friends; and be it further

30        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
31    presented to the family of John K. McCann.
