 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Arlena Beatryce Williams, who  passed  away  on  June  11,
 5    2001; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Arlena  Beatryce  Williams was born to Lawrence
 7    Carter and Beriland Wright on June 27, 1929; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams attended Dunbar Elementary  School
 9    and  graduated  from  Lincoln  High  School, both in East St.
10    Louis; she also attended Mildred Louise Business College  and
11    State Community College of East St. Louis; and

12        WHEREAS,  Mrs. Williams was married for the past 32 years
13    to Charles Williams,  who  passed  away  shortly  before  her
14    death; and

15        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Williams' work career began shortly after
16    high school at Famous Barr Department  store  in  St.  Louis,
17    Missouri as an elevator operator, and later as a sales person
18    in  the  china  department  and  as a supervisor in the paint
19    department; years later, she  was  employed  at  the  Federal
20    Reserve Bank in St. Louis as a data check processor until her
21    retirement  in June of 1989; after her retirement, she joined
22    the staff at the Sister Thea  Bowman  Catholic  School  as  a
23    foster grandparent; and

24        WHEREAS,  Mrs. Williams served as a member of the Greater
25    New Hope Baptist Church where she was a member of the Angelic
26    Choir, Mass Choir, and the Church Aide Society; she was  also
27    a member of the Carousel Social Club for over 20 years, where
28    she  served  as  secretary,  and  a  member  of the Truelight
29    Baptist Church in East St. Louis; and

30        WHEREAS, The passing of Arlena Beatryce Williams will  be
31    deeply  felt  by  all  who knew and loved her, especially her

 1    daughters, Sherry Boozer and  Racel  Moody;  her  son-in-law,
 2    Roosevelt  Boozer;  her  grandchildren,  Eric  Eugene Nelson,
 3    Terri Denise Nelson, and Sterling Moody,  Jr.;  her  sisters,
 4    Betty Brewer and Elaine Johnson; her niece, Shana Brewer; her
 5    nephews,   Amos   Brewer,   III   and   Keith   Brewer;   her
 6    stepdaughters,  Janina  (Terry) Turley and Shana Snowden; her
 7    adopted sisters, Bonnie Snowden, Marie  Lawson,  Cleo  Lewis,
 8    and  Roberta Cozart; her cousins, Lovie Carothers and Lucille
 9    Scott; a host of devoted nieces and nephews; her adopted son;
10    and  several  adopted  daughters,   cousins,   and   friends;
11    therefore, be it

12        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
13    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
14    all  who knew her, the death of Arlena Beatryce Williams; and
15    be it further

16        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
17    presented  to the family of Arlena Beatryce Williams with our
18    sincere condolences.
