 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Thomas J. Duffy, who passed away on December 30, 2001; and

 5        WHEREAS, Thomas Duffy was a graduate of the University of
 6    Notre Dame and the DePaul University School of Law; and

 7        WHEREAS, Thomas J. Duffy was  a  veteran  of  the  United
 8    States  Marine  Corps  serving  in the South Pacific, Saipan,
 9    Tinian, and Okinawa during World War II; and

10        WHEREAS, Mr. Duffy was a partner of the Law Firm of Duffy
11    and Jordan and was a forty-five year lobbyist in  Springfield
12    and   Chicago   where   his   clients  included  the  police,
13    firefighters, and corporations; in  addition,  he  served  as
14    Speaker of the Third House in 1972; and

15        WHEREAS,   Mr.   Duffy   was   a   member   of   numerous
16    organizations, including the Windy City Veterans Association,
17    the  DuPage  County  Marine  Corp  League, the Chicago Police
18    Marines, the South Shore Country Club, the Monogram Club, the
19    University of Notre Dame Club, the Ridge  Country  Club,  the
20    Chicago  Beach  and  Tennis  Club,  and  Sacred  Heart  Roman
21    Catholic  Mission  Church;  in addition, he was listed in the
22    Who's Who in American Law; and

23        WHEREAS, The passing of Thomas J. Duffy  will  be  deeply
24    felt  by  all  who  knew  and loved him, especially his sons,
25    Brian P. Duffy  and  Kevin  E.  Duffy;  his  daughter-in-law,
26    Kathleen  Duffy;  his grandchildren, Thomas J. III (Bridget),
27    Kristin, and Brian P., Jr.; his  sister,  Dolores  (Benjamin)
28    Starr;  and  his  many nieces and nephews; he was preceded in
29    death by his beloved wife, Patricia Duffy and his son, Thomas
30    J. Duffy, Jr.; therefore, be it

31        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL

 1    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
 2    all who knew him, the death of Thomas J.  Duffy  of  Chicago,
 3    Illinois; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 5    presented to the family of Thomas J. Duffy with  our  sincere
 6    condolences.
