 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  Senate  Resolution  41  of  the  91st   General
 3    Assembly  created  the Mental Health Evaluation and Treatment
 4    Task Force to examine the laws of  this  State  to  determine
 5    whether this State is fulfilling its responsibilities towards
 6    its  citizens  who  may  need  mental  health  evaluation and
 7    treatment; and Senate Resolution  203  of  the  91st  General
 8    Assembly  reconvened  that  Task  Force  to determines way to
 9    improve the treatment of persons with mental illness who  are
10    confined in pre-trial detention facilities; and

11        WHEREAS,  The  laws of this State should also be examined
12    to determine ways to improve the treatment  of  persons  with
13    mental  illness in the juvenile justice system; therefore, be
14    it

15        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL
16    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the members appointed
17    to  the  Mental  Health  Evaluation  and Treatment Task Force
18    created by Senate Resolution 41 of the 91st General  Assembly
19    shall reconvene to examine Illinois laws to determine ways to
20    improve  the  treatment of persons with mental illness in the
21    juvenile justice system; and be it further

22        RESOLVED, That for the purpose of examining Illinois laws
23    pursuant to this resolution, the Task Force shall consist  of
24    the following additional members: the Director of Corrections
25    or  his  or her designee; the State Appellate Defender of his
26    or her designee; a representative of the  Illinois  Sheriffs'
27    Association; a representative of the John Howard Association;
28    a  representative  of  the  Juvenile  Justice  Project of the
29    University of Chicago Law School,  a  representative  of  the
30    Juvenile  Justice  Initiate; a representative of the Illinois
31    Public Defenders Association; and  a  representative  of  the
32    Clinical Evaluation Services Initiative; and be it further

 1        RESOLVED,   That   the   Task   Force  shall  report  its
 2    recommendations  for  the  legislature   pursuant   to   this
 3    resolution  to  the Senate no later than January 1, 2002; and
 4    be it further

 5        RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this  resolution  shall
 6    be presented to each member of the Task Force.
