 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Margaret Scott, who passed away on March 15, 2001; and

 5        WHEREAS, Margaret Scott was  raised  outside  Pittsburgh,
 6    Pennsylvania;  she  graduated  in 1950 from Carlow College in
 7    Pittsburgh; she began her teaching career in  the  Pittsburgh
 8    area, where she taught high school mathematics; and

 9        WHEREAS, After moving to Park Ridge, Illinois, Mrs. Scott
10    taught  mathematics  at  Main  East  High School and attended
11    graduate courses at the  Illinois  Institute  of  Technology,
12    where  she later received her master's degree in mathematics;
13    and

14        WHEREAS, Mrs. Scott joined the faculty  as  an  associate
15    professor  at Harper College in 1972; she retired as chair of
16    the college's mathematics department in 1994; and

17        WHEREAS, Mrs. Scott served on the board  at  St.  Matthew
18    Lutheran  Home  in  Park Ridge during the 1990s; she was also
19    involved with her parish in Park Ridge where she assisted the
20    music director occasionally by playing the  organ  or  piano,
21    and in Pittsburgh where she was a full time organist; and

22        WHEREAS,  The  passing  of  Margaret Scott will be deeply
23    felt by all who knew and loved her, especially  her  husband,
24    Maurice; her daughters, Mary Margaret Scott, Elizabeth Lyons,
25    and  Maura Scott Bland; her son, M. James Scott, Jr.; and her
26    two grandchildren; therefore, be it

27        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL
28    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29    all who knew her, the death of Margaret Scott of Park  Ridge,
30    Illinois; and be it further

 1        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 2    presented to the family of Margaret Scott  with  our  sincere
 3    condolences.
